Leeland: Love is On the Move
Mon, 06 Jul 2009 - 4:31 PM CST
Leeland's third release Love is on the Move will hit the shelves in August, but there's already plenty of buzz and expectation surrounding the release. Remember
- and you can quote me - buzz is a good thing, but expectation can sometimes be a double-edged sword.
From the first track aptly named "The Door," you will enter into an experience that feels a bit more reflective than their last release. Mr. Mooring's vocals haven't changed one iota - they beg your ears to listen up and care what he's crooning about. Brandon Heath even makes a guest appearance on "Follow You," but I had to really focus to hear his signature sound.
Unfortunately, the title track "Love is on the Move" was a slight disappointment. Don't ask me why, but I felt like I was listening to Leeland's interpretation of how Enya would do this song. While I'm at it, "Lift Your Eyes Up" was also a letdown - it felt disjointed and not at all cohesive which is a Leeland trademark.
Ah, good old expectations. Other than a few perceived missteps, Leeland's third studio release is a solid base hit. It brings a more meaningful worship experience to the listener, and that is always a good thing.
